The imagery combines cedar, fern, and salal to represent the important relationships within, and with, forests. Symbiosis also represents people working together for a stronger whole. The initial concept was inspired by nurse logs, which are trees that provide structure and nourishment for other plants.
This piece was part of an invitational exhibition at the Government House in Victoria, home to the Lt. Governor of BC. It has recently returned after a year and a half in the historic ballroom mezzanine.
