On a very hot summer day in a warehouse that seemed hotter than outside, my model and friend Kaitlin was posing for me for a new series of nudes paintings. We ditched the strobe lights since they were adding to our discomfort and I decided we desperately needed some water. So I went in search of some and the closest place was a McDonald's.
While I was there, I also grabbed a happy meal for Kaitlin. Back at the warehouse, while eating the french fries, she told me they were her favorite food. Watching her eat them I couldn't help being a bit envious that she could eat them and still be as slim as she was. I continued to photograph her until we couldn't take the heat anymore.
Back in my studio, I was editing the photos and it occurred to me that Kaitlin's read hair was similar to Ronald McDonald's and this is how the painting and it's name came to be.
When I went to get the painting framed, I chose a classic ornate gold frame. Once I had it back in my studio I noticed the small "M" shape that created the pattern on the frame.
I couldn't have planned it better. Serendipity is everywhere.
