This etching, illustrating one of the Canterbury Tales of Geoffrey Chaucer (1340-1400) was printed in an edition of 100 from cut-out plates of 18-gauge engraver's copper etched with aquatint-etching process supported by other intaglio techniques. The print was inked in color by the poupee method and printed by the artist on 400M textured etching paper.
Lucille Gilling was born on 1905 in Hamilton, Missouri but moved to Canada where she has exhibited widely and won several important awards. She received her art training at Kansas City Art Institute; the New York School of Fine and Applied Arts, as well as in Paris, Italy, England and Canada.
