  • Artist: Preston Singletary

Preston Singletary is internationally recognized for uniting European glassblowing traditions with the visual language of Northwest Coast Native art. Deeply rooted in his Tlingit heritage, his work explores themes of transformation, animal spirits, and shamanism through elegant blown forms and sand-carved designs. Over a 30-year career, Singletary has worked with renowned artists including Lino Tagliapietra and Dante Marioni, and his glass artworks are held in major museum collections such as the British Museum, the Corning Museum of Glass, and the Smithsonian Institution.
Singletary’s evolving practice challenges conventional ideas about Native art by embracing glass as a medium for cultural storytelling. His groundbreaking exhibitions—including Raven and the Box of Daylight—reframe indigenous narratives through contemporary form, affirming the vitality of Native voices in today’s art world.
