Isaiah Malunga is an award-winning young artist from the Mukuru area of ​​Kenya. Malunga's artwork is built around handwritten homework notes from school children in the slums. He buys these from them to motivate them to complete their education, and to help their parents with money for their education.

This specific painting, "Mother's Devotion", depicts the sacrifices of single mothers to give their children a better childhood than they had.

Malunga himself grew up in the slums, and thanks his own mother for her struggle to give him better opportunities in life. He now works as a full-time artist and has had several other young artists apprentice under him.
