This work, entitled "The Road to Emmaus" (Oil on linen canvas, 36" x 50"), was painted down the road from Miriam's current home in Crossville, TN. It depicts a scene from the bible from Luke 24 where the resurrected Christ walks toward the village of Emmaus (the actual town of Crossville depicted in the distance) with two of his followers who are talking about his death, but unaware that it is Jesus they are walking with. The scene includes a black cow who escaped from the neighbor's main pasture one day as she was painting, and was enjoying the greener grass on the other side.
