This piece "The Blue Studio" depicts Miriam's art studio in the apartments on Montevallo Road in Birmingham, Alabama in 1975.
You can see not only quite a few paintings of Miriam's on the studio wall (like "Portrait of Frank" and "Baker's Dairy"), but also all the tools familiar to an artist: brushes, cans of turpentine, a portable easel for plain air painting, and Queen Anne's lace (one of Miriam's favorite flowers) in the empty can on the draped table.
At the center of the work is a blue cloth (her favorite color) over a framed piece of art on an easel. On the left edge of the painting, you glimpse her canvas as she paints this work. And yes, the carpet was green!
