"Implosions" is a series of expansive works on paper created between 2021 and 2023, exploring themes of emotional claustrophobia and both mental and physical space. Initially begun as small-scale ink and watercolor pieces during lockdown, the project evolved into a larger-scale size project. At its core, the series features a black, magmatic center—a void that absorbs all energy—contrasted with a surrounding luminous and rarefied space. This imagery served as a metaphor for my emotional state and a potential escape. The central void has since expanded, giving way to open forms that evoke the asymmetrically structured squares found in Apulia, Italy, which, despite their irregularity, exude a sense of harmony.Paper, as a medium, holds and reveals the history of its interactions, making it both a dynamic and challenging surface. My actions and reflections are imprinted on the paper, inviting viewers to trace my creative process.Looking for the sweet spot between chaos and balance is my drive and challenge.
