This serigraph is a limited edition showing continuous rolling of steel as it was done at Armco's Ashland, Kentucky Works in 1924 which was an innovative process that eventually revolutionized the sheet steel industry. Sam Ashworth is the artist and Ben McIntire is the printer.
This print used a photographic silk screen process. It was separated into the different screens and the stencils were done using a photo emulsion. The serigraph printing process is the same, but the stencils were done photographically, not blocked out by painting the blocked out area. Strictly speaking it's inspired by a photograph and the images were taken from negative, but it is done with artistic license as a commemorative print on the company's anniversary.
