I awarded first place to Cape Cod #3 because of the painter's masterful oil work, which made for an atmospheric portrait of a place, as well as the lovely details they chose to include, such as the windows, lit brightly by the rising or setting sun. The work is delightfully cinematic, and it captures the essence of Cape Cod in quietude very aptly. Something has just happened, or something is about to happen. The focus on a slice of these buildings is an intrigued and inspired exploration of our built environment.
