The movement of water captivates and intrigues me. I like to spend time watching the patterns both dynamic and subtle that are created as water moves. From the crashing waves of our dramatic Northern California coast to the resonant thundering of waterfalls in the Pacific, I am always moved by the force and beauty of the waters. This contemplative observation informs my paintings, what I have observed through watching I translate into my work. My approach to the movement of water ranges from highly stylized forms to the subtleties of realism. I also am keenly interested in the forms of rocks and trees that have been sculpted by the wind for many years. The cliffs and rocks of the coastline tell many stories of their time in the wind. Movement unseen, but always present.
