This maquette is a proposal for a 7-foot cement sculpture dedicated to survivors of the 2015 Valley Fire in Lake County California. The sculpture has two sides. The side represented here is the Phoenix Bird Rising out of the flames to be reborn. The center of the sculpture is designed with a void allowing a view of the moon or sunrise within the empty space. The shield beneath the Phoenix reads:
The Fire roared:
"You cannot survive this storm"
We answered:
"We are the Storm"
