Michelle Jackson
The Passage of TIme by Michelle Jackson Image: I wanted to make a piece that had both the pocket watch (I took photos of an old pocket watch that belonged to a grandparent) and portraits in the cubist style. I started by dividing the space into sections. As I started to put in the watch pieces and the portraits I decided not to make it as cubist as I originally thought, but still keeping the sections. I wanted the beauty of the watch to be seen clearly. I used a photo of my son as a baby and then found two copyright free photos of an older man on the internet. I decided to make the hands of the watch overlap other sections and I quilted this piece using a grid method which can look much more complicated than it really is.
