MessageWater taken from the lake in Loughcrew Gardens which flows down from a spring somewhere on the mountain.
‘We took the water from the Mountain’ replied my neighbour when I first enquired how people around here managed without indoor plumbing. It was a strange and mysterious answer to my city-born self. But now, years later, I understand.
‘The Mountain’, Sliabh na Caillí, the highest point in the county, holds many secrets. Not least of which is the water which percolates through the limestone, sprouts springs and runs in streams through the green, brown and golden fields. The water feeds the land and nourishes those who live upon it. Its trickling sound heals and soothes our spirits. It carries us back to older times and moves us onward at the same time.
This is magic water from a magic mountain.
If it were to speak to me I think it would speak of plenty, of peace, of nourishment, of contentment.
