“A Shoot Shall Spring Forth”  represents Mary and the stump of Jesse in the book of Isaiah. This prophecy in the Hebrew Bible foretells the coming Messiah.  Isaiah prophesies of a virgin birth from the house of David in Isaiah 11:1: “But a shoot shall spring up from the stump of Jesse, and a Branch from his roots will bear fruit.”
