The view from my studio to the edge of the woods behind, inspired this series of work. These are gestural studies, immediate responses to the light and tangle of branches in the snow of mid-winter. This particular time of year and season is introspective with a greater focus on working from memory and impression rather than direct observation. There is an energy of rebirth building in the quieter time of winter.
