Collage made with unique woodcuts, mounted on panel. This vertical, abstraction of the landscape is in some ways in spired by Eastern ink paintings or Japanese woodcuts. Michael often uses his woodcuts as the starting point for an exploration in collage. Differences in paper such as delicate rice papers and creamy Western printmaking papers can be seen in transparent and opaque layers. The woodcut collages are unique, graphic expressions in my work.
