Visions of the American Landscape

St. Louis Artists' Guild Juried Exhibition April 8-May 7, 2022

Visions of the American Landscape

My painting Urban Landscape is included in the Visions of the American Landscape exhibition at the St. Louis Artists Guild "showcasing Missouri and Illinois artists working in a variety of mediums whose work engages with the landscape, broadly defined, exploring how the natural environment around us influences our representations of ourselves and our communities." The juror for the exhibit is Emmy Lingscheit, Associate Professor, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. The opening reception is Friday, April 8, 2022, 5-8pm at the Saint Louis Artists' Guild, 12 N. Jackson, Clayton, MO.

Painted on location with Missouri Plein Air Painters Association in late autumn of 2021, high rise buildings are reflected in a lake in Forest Park. Figures are shown along an adjacent walking path. The 1300-acre park itself embodies a variety of landscapes that in certain locations seem so natural and remote that you forget that you are surrounded by a densely populated city.
