Black and white photo on matte paper by listed artist Susan Friedman. Used in an exhibit at Ansel Adam's, Friends of Photography Gallery. Untitled from the series "Winged Souls". The picture is not dated but was used in the exhibit in 1981. Measures 11"W x 10 1/4"L. Slight crease around the photo. Has official label from the gallery and a bar code from their inventory. Avant garde image of a woman wearing a Kabuki mask standing next to an eagle.
Excellent Condition - Minor wear consistent with age and history.
Bio:
Susan Friedman (photographer/filmmaker) is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and photographer.
Friedman has been a still photographer for many years and has had one-women shows both nationally and internationally, including Tokyo, Amsterdam, Berlin, and San Francisco. Herstill work is collected by the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Oakland Museum, and the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris.
In 1985 She won the SECA award in Filmmaking from SFMOMA for two of her films. Her work has been funded by the National Science Foundation, The National Endowment for the Arts, Fleishacker Foundation and The Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics among others.
Between 2007 -2010 Friedman had 4 shows of her new work with horses. at San Francisco Museum of Modern Art ( MOMA) Café Museo, Spur Gallery in Portola Valley, SF MOMA Artist’s Gallery and IWOLK Gallery.
She is currently on the faculty at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
