Excellent Condition - Minor wear consistent with age and history.
His large portfolio of charcoal drawings was acquired on the island of Alameda, Ca where the artist lived.
Henry Woon was born on November 23, 1926 in Oakland's Chinatown. After graduating from Oakland Technical High School, he joined the Army during World War II. During the Korean War, he re-entered the military as an Army Chinese interpreter. In 1956, Woon graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, having majored in Political Science with a minor in Art. For ten years, he worked for the government as a management analyst in the Programs and Management Division of the Comptrollers and another ten years for President Lyndon B. Johnson's Great Society Program. From the 1950s through the early 2000s, Woon was an avid freelance photographer and photojournalist for East West and Asian Week newspapers. He was also a community activist and a playwright.
