The son of Nathaniel S. Turland (1877-1947) of Northampton, England, George Turland Goosey made a name for himself initially as an architect in America using the surname Turland Goosey. He designed some of the early skyscrapers, “the famous Friars Club, the theatrical center of America’s capital”, and no less than seven Roman Catholic churches. He was also an accomplished etcher - his print Moonlight on a Venetian Canal winning first prize in the annual exhibition in New York in 1914.
Painter. Born in Northhampton, England on June 11, 1877.
By the 1930s Turland had moved to California. After settling in Laguna Beach he became active with the local art association.
He died there of heart failure on May 23, 1947. An Impressionist, from his colorful palette came marines and coastal views.
