My current work is an ongoing extended series called "Aenigmate": Mixed media / altarpiece constructions.
These images, likened to illuminated manuscript pages, reliquaries and icons, stem from my interest in Medieval, conceptual and narrative modes. They pertain largely to Biblical themes centered on the life of Mary (the Annun-
ciation, the Mother and Child theme), the Passion of
Christ and the Apocalypse (with the construction of the Heavenly City). —R Eustace
Eustace grew up in New York City and cites his early introduction to art to his interaction and friendship with
the Expressionist painter, Peter Dean (b.1934 -d.1993)
as a formative influence . Also important was proximity –
which enabled frequent visits-- to the nearby Metropol-
itan Museum of Art’s installation of the Cloisters which recreates a complete Medieval monastic setting. Robert Eustace attended Montclair State College (BA, Fine Arts)
and the School of Visual Arts, NYC (MFA, Painting and
Mixed Media).
