Marshall Park Mitchell’s subject matters are consistently nostalgic images of the Old West. His major work includes
an equestrian Lincoln statue on public display at the
Visitor Center of New Salem State Park in Illinois. That
work, entitled "Out of the Wilderness," and was completed
in 1991 and was commissioned by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency and the Capital Development
Board Art in Architecture program.
Artwork by Marshall Park Mitchell , a sculptor of Western
and Native American subjects, was commissioned by or
is in the collections of the Franciscan University, the
Illinois Historical Preservation Agency, the city of
Springfield, Illinois, and Oklahoma State College among
others. Mr. Mitchell owned and operated Marshall
Mitchell Printing and Art Studio.
