This work is from photographic study of the ongoing transformation of a number of heretofore isolated
northern Mexican villagers into a community of world-
class ceramic artists. This transformation is having a pro-
found historic impact on their lives, the life of their
village and on the social, economic and cultural life of
the surrounding region.
Socolow was a self taught photojournalist for Harrisburg’s
daily newspaper The Patriot-News for many years . He then founded his own commercial photography specializing in commercial, industrial, architectural and editorial photo-
graphy. Socolow has been exhibiting more personal
projects widely for the last ten years. He is a recipient of a
Guggenheim Fellowship and the Artist Showcase Award
from The Center for Fine Art Photography, Fort Collins, CO.
