- Screenprint (13), on Saunders Waterford 400g paper
Artist: Antonio Murado x
Antonio Murado has been called an abstract alchemist.
He experiments in very thinned-down paint and varnish
to create distressed and crazed surfaces and subtle transparent layers. The element of chance is always
present. To reproduce these effects, but also expand his
own artistic vocabulary by further employing the special
advantages of screenprinting techniques, Murado collab-
orated with Durham Press to create this particular work
using 13 large scale screens in an edition of 40 prints.
Antonio Murado, Spanish, was born in the small town of
Lugo, Galicia, in 1964. He studied Fine Art at the University
of Salamaca, Spain (BFA, 1988). Early in his career, he was honored with some of Spain’s highest awards for painting.
After living in Madrid for seven years, he moved to New
York in 1996, where he now resides. Antonio Murado's
work has been exhibited nationally and internationally
and is held by virtually every museum in Spain and is
included in major public and private collections through-
out Europe and the United States. He is represented by
Von Lintel Gallery in NYC.
