Vittoriosa, Malta

Vittoriosa is a quarter close to Valletta - and full of beautiful architecture. This house has the characteristic Gallarija - which was apparently for viewing .... or spying :) ....on the people in the street below without being seen. Regardless of the purpose they look great and really add to the character of the buildings here. I added a flag for some color and movement. Malta has many versions of flags, and all have the Cross of Malta, but this one appeals to me with its all red background.
This wood was found in Turkey along the western coasts. It's almost perfectly square and very very solid hardwood of some sort. It has remnants old original paint, which I love because it helps me create that authentic aged look.
