Lebuh Pantai is also known as Beach Street as it used to follow the beach line when it was first constructed - back in 1787. That is older than the city of Singapore or Kuala Lumpur! Now it sits about 2 blocks back from the water but still serves as a major traffic route through George Town.
This piece of driftwood is one of the four “Peeling Paint” pieces that originated from one door. Like all the others this board was sealed with a clear lacquer to try and keep the fragments of paint from falling off. The nice thing about this art is that even if it gets bumped or scratched it just adds to the character of the piece. It would be nice if that was true for myself.
