‘Creating a dramatic landscape is a way for my mind to reconnect with nature. The rugged untouched parts of nature such as rocky outcrops separated from the coastline evoke a feeling of danger and power. The swirling movement of water surrounding the scene and the pretty colours of the sea is an illusion to tempt many to traverse.
I find the inherent depth, darks and motion fearfully exciting to observe and paint.
This particular rocky outcrop is part of Australia’s Victorian coastline along the Great Ocean Road.’
No. 9 of the Pure Australia series. Break away sections of giant rock in the Great Ocean Road, forms part of the famous landmark ‘The Twelve Apostles’ in Victoria, Australia.
Lashings of oil paint and energetic movement, give the feel of the tumultuous, tumbling ocean around the rocks.
