This box and its contents make up the catalog for Documenta: The Paolo Soleri Retrospective, an exhibition held at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in the spring of 1970. Born in Turin in 1919, Soleri is an architect and the founder of Arcosanti, a town in the Arizona desert devoted to the exploration of the relationship between ecology and architecture. In addition to a printed catalog, the box also contains sixteen long drawings of Soleri's work, rolled and stacked in a cardboard housing. Unfurled, the drawings offer a tour of Soleri's projects, and propose a new format for the genre: the catalog as exhibition.
