Playful etchings that use a stencil in the shape of reflections on a block of glacial ice I observed in Svalbard in 2019. Bathymetry is the underwater equivalent of topography and lets us map the seafloor. This is something I became very interested in after sailing across the Denmark Strait between Iceland and Greenland in a small boat while reading “Soundings” by Hali Felt; a biography of Marie Tharp who created the first comprehensive map of the ocean floor.
