McNaughton worked in a gold mining town in the Australian outback called Kalgoorlie in his early 20s. While there, he became curious about the dynamic between the workers that pushed the wheelbarrows, labored, and toiled in the mines relative to those who owned and bought the gold. Why are the workers and owners lives so vastly different? The 24kt Manetti gold layering overtop of the wheelbarrow brings two typically distanced worlds together. This sculpture provokes reflection on the social disparities that exist today.

Many Medici's of our day refer to the movement of money and wealth as a game. From fund managers, to business owners you can find references to the game of money and wealth being played. They understand the rules and move along the board while others don't understand or realize the game they are within. Western society is curiously organized. It oddly mimics the board game Monopoly. The “Monopoly” sculpture will forever be a reminder of the social organization of our day.
