Composition No. 8 & 9 refer to the predatory nature described in Veblen’s Theory of the Leisure Class. The ideas outlined were re-enforced by the American military budget in contrast to the American educational budget, through pop culture, specifically Dan Bilzerian, Wolf of Wall Street, The Big Short, rap and hip hop music and the like. These mirrored tondos reflect the viewer and their world with a golden tinge. The tondos distort who and where they are while referencing Versaille as much as a funhouse. 12 gauge shotgun rounds have fractured and pierced the mirror leaving a delicate work for reflection. The Composition tondos hold a mirror to the onlooker and distort them as much as pop culture can. These pieces walk the line between beauty and destruction as the world today often does.

Mirror tondos.
These mirrors have been pierced with a 12 gauge shotgun, creating layers of visually interesting information. The gold coloured mirrors reference Versaille as much as a funhouse. Interactive mirror works reflect the onlooker in ways that are distorted. His interest in reality, distortion, history and hip hop culture come together in these beautiful tondos.
