Into the Abyss and Out from "Beneath the Temple of Julius Caesar" (1/3) - three drawings as part of a conceptual project of "Rebuilding the Temple of Julius Caesar" at the Roman Forum.
A journey back in time; down into the earth, under the open sky, and out through the altar. Once a fire was lit on that altar and the temple became the eternal fire. And now, that which was the solid becomes the void, and that void is now surrounded by the soil. The building blocks are made out of the excavated earth and hold history within it. Stories of one time and of all times.
