After viewing the iconic paintings of Hilma af Klint at the Guggenheim Museum, and visiting the Orchid Show at New York Botanical Garden, New York, I began a series of large orchid portraits with gold or silver metallic backgrounds. painted several orchid portraits including this Vanda orchid with it’s metallic silver background. This orchid with it’s rich violet colors has been a personal favorite and photographs taken during visits to New York Botanical Garden Orchid Shows were used as reference.
