"Lost Orbit / Celestial Return" is a two-part wall sculpture installation that traces a journey from struggle to hope, reflecting the artist’s personal experience with anxiety and depression. The first piece, finished in a matte white powder coat, consists of three components depicting phases of the moon. The central full moon bears a raw and vulnerable inscription from the artist’s diary: “I’m trying to breathe, but I feel so fucking shaky. I don’t want to die. I like it here.” This passage captures the quiet intensity of internal turmoil and the fragility of holding on through the depths of depression.
The second piece, painted in a vibrant ultramarine color, stands in contrast, symbolizing transformation and resilience. Composed of the same three moon phases, its deep, saturated blue—reminiscent of International Klein Blue—embodies transcendence, infinity, and strength. The full moon carries a message of hope: “You are not alone, and where you’re meant to be. You are strong, beyond what you think.” This passage serves as an affirmation of perseverance and self-discovery.
Placed side by side, the sculptures guide the viewer from vulnerability to empowerment. Displayed on a pedestal next to the installation is the artist’s original diary which contains the passages inscribed on the works. Its inclusion offers a deeper connection to the piece, grounding its celestial imagery in the tangible reality of struggle and healing. Together, these elements explore the cyclical nature of pain and renewal, inviting reflection on the transformative power of hope. The installation serves as a window into the artist’s emotional landscape—one where peace is found through nature, creation, and the act of survival.
