Places and Spaces
Starting in 2020, I began making a series of paintings using acrylic paint and pasted paper collage. This series includes landscapes and abstract work that explores how color evokes space - imagined or observed. Collage provides the opportunity to construct an image through the arrangement of ready-made color shapes rather than painting directly onto a blank canvas.
Abstract Views
Recent abstract acrylic and collage paintings that evoke landscape or architectural spaces as see through a momentary glimpse.
The Landscape Imagined
These paintings, mostly oils, depict landscapes, seascapes, and abstract work from 2006 to present. They are developed in the studio to evoke the feeling of places imagined or remembered. The final image emerges from a process of revision and discovery with the hope of revealing to the viewer places both personal and universal.
Small Paintings
This is a collection of oils and acrylics measuring 14 inches or less. They include both work done in the studio and en plein air. Working small often allows for a certain amount of intimacy and immediacy not often realized in larger work.
