Duende IV. Plaster bandage, paper clay, goat horns, decorated with acrylic paints. Made for a theatrical performance of La Pastorela, a satirical Mexican Christmas play. Part of the diablito series, meaning little devil in spanish, they are worn in the play by children to accompany the devil as his helpers, creating mischief and causing the other characters trouble.
Half mask of human face with goat horns on top of head. Sculpted eyebrows painted brown and carved with hair lines. Mask has little brown and pink moles painted and sculpted all over on forehead, nose, cheeks, and above lip. Area below nose is pushed out. Six shell teeth protrude from bottom of mask, all different shapes and lengths.
