As a tribute to Shostakovich’s Symphony No.10, the painting is a visual expression of my affinity with the music. It started with the impact of a concert I heard, and later on the image came to my mind. A feather-like structure on the left is being pulled down by something bending and stretching. The sharp metallic planes are in torsion and about to snap. The soul, represented by the feathers, will strive upward and not be defeated by any kind of oppression. Painted in my Prague Studio in 2016. The painting took part in a documentary on Shostakovich's Symphonies, "The Art of the Symphony" by DSCH Films (2017)
