Studies of ancient architectural etchings by the 18th century engraver Giovanni Battista Piranesi. The composition of both paintings, Piranesi 1 & 2, is after the Piranesi etching “Basilica of Maxentius and Constantine, 313 AD"
Created in Prague Studio (Zámecké schody)
These were studies for vaulted monumental structures; ideas for the painting 'Largo Shostakovich' (2013), based on Shostakovich 5th symphony.
