These paintings are created in 2001, as the artist was living in New York City and witness to the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center. The images are from newspapers. Maryleen was in the subway, from Central Park to change trains at 42nd street, on her way to the studio in Brooklyn, when it happened. The paintings have been a way of processing and sharing the tragic experience.
