This is a very historic area of Cape Ann. The view is from the roof deck of a cottage in the Rocky Neck artist colony, in Gloucester, looking down on the intersection of Woonson and Fremont Streets. I was inspired by the historic homes and kept the electrical wire in the painting as I was fascinated by how they seemed to stitch the houses together. Edward Hopper's Pink House is up the block, at the top of Woonson Street.
