The wind was highly testy at one point. It just would not let me finish! No amount of telling it to stop, no amount of yelling, no amount of surrender. It kept lifting the palette paper I had taped on the palette, slapping wet paint all over my hands. I had no paper towels, no hand cleaner, and only two squares of toilet paper I had brought to blow my nose. Must be better prepared next time.
I finished this painting up in the studio since there was no finishing it on site that day. The joys of Plein air painting! I had used a palette knife in the field, so I continued with that technique in studio sessions.
I'm happy with the results. As the light shifts throughout the day, the mood and tone of this painting change too. I'm enamored with it. I hope you love it too.
