I painted Angel's Flight after my father, who was a WWII aviator, passed away recently. This painting has many layers and deep imagery. It can be seen as a seascape depicting very stormy seas, and if you look closely you can see a figure in the water, floating, looking upward. The flash of light above the deep grey horizon is my depiction of a soul on climb out, leaving the travails of this life and emerging into the light. The painting can also be seen as a rocky mountainside. There is deep texture and layers of revealed sub-painting in this work which is wonderful to run your eyes over.
