This painting is done on a board I prepared myself and has a very rough texture. I thought it would work quite well for the scene of the many tree trunks and the light showing through. This is Lake Lanier near Gainesville, GA. I have always been intrigued by the little cavities created on the banks of lakes – and the many roots showing, along with the interwoven tree limbs above, are a beautiful woven tapestry to me. I couldn’t resist leaving the bright red-orange for the Georgia red clay! I hope you enjoy the scene as much as I enjoyed painting it.
