We often describe the graceful movements of jellyfish as hypnotic. Stunningly beautiful jellyfish move by contracting and expanding their bodies and largely depend upon ocean currents, tides and wind for motion. The tentacled creatures have drifted with ocean currents for millions of years, even longer than dinosaurs roamed the earth.
Humans could adapt to the increase of jellyfish by developing new uses. Biofuel is a viable product. Yeasts and bacteria can turn jellyfish protein into ethanol alcohol that fuels cars. Ethanol burns well and works in the engines of most cars. Jellyfish could provide economic opportunity and a renewable energy source that supports a sustainable future.
