This is a portrait of Mark Lashier, an oil company CEO, in front of a dune at the Kellogg-Weaver Dunes Scientific and Natural Area. Scientific and Natural Areas are protected natural areas with either rare plant communities or threatened environments. Mr. Lashier's suit coat is painted with a petroleum-based tar that will slowly eat away at the painting and destroy it. This is a direct metaphor for the business decisions Mr. Lashier is making.
