Almost An Island, Limited Edition Book, - SOLD OUT
Almost An Island is a photographic journey around Nova Scotia’s 7400km coastline through the eyes of Canadian Landscape artist Mark Brennan. For three years, 2017 to 2020 he ranged the length and breadth of this Eastern Canadian province working with mostly analog medium format cameras.
Mark sought out the dramatic but also the seemingly mundane in an attempt to find the essence of the landscape and to bring to us a body of work that forms an important new addition to the artistic narrative of Nova Scotia’s coastline. Thousands of images later this body of work has been edited down to 55 black and white photographs that is now available as a limited, first edition, signed and numbered hardcover book.
“I wanted to make something that might stand as a testament to the character of the land here in Nova Scotia, I wanted an instinctual response, my interpretation being mostly based on intuition. I wandered a lot, not seeking out the landscape, but letting the land, its textures, rhythms and forms come to me in both rawness and beauty.”
