A 3-dimensional piece from polymer clay over a hollow chicken eggshell. I use a lot of translucent clay in my custom color mixes which gives the clay a beautiful waxy finish.
Let me set the scene for you. "Pepper," a precocious little gray kitty cat, is walking along the side of a garden pond when he spots a ripple in the otherwise tranquil blue water.
He crouches close to the water's surface and waits. One minute passes, then two minutes. The anticipation of discovering what lay beneath the expanding ripple is more than he can bear. Just as he thought he would burst, his wait is rewarded. "Sushi," the brightest koi he'd ever seen, emerges.
