With this painting, I followed my normal process, which is that the painting is not planned but evolves from intuitive moves that I make in response to what's already there. As this painting evolved, I realized that it was a painting of a horse looking from below and behind the face -- from where the rider would mount the horse. I named it Wally after my daughter's beloved horse, who passed unexpectedly. There is a sensitivity to this piece that is unmistakeable.
