- Still Life with Vase and Red Drapery, 1985
- Oil on linen
- 26 x 23 in
Still life scene with landscape in the background, a tall glass vase at the left, a can of turpentine, and a baseball and open book at the center, blue pitcher and red drawstring soft purse to the right. The book is the kind of souvenir book whose pages are postcards, in this case, of paintings. Red table cloth and white fabric in lower right corner. The view of the hills, trees, homes, church, and sea is from the artist's home in Pacific Palisades. This early still life treats the objects in a more traditional manner. The vase and tower, separated by a low wall painted at an angle to the horizon, create a narrative across the distance.
